Back up and restore your hosting package in Core

Core can now back up and restore your hosting package, and you choose what goes in. October also brought wildcard SSL certificates, a welcome tour for Core and a long list of fixes.

New , 8 changes Link to New

  • Back up your hosting package in Core and choose which services and items go in.
  • Restore a whole backup or a single item, and choose to overwrite it or restore it under a new name.
  • Backups include each website's files and the contents of your mailboxes.
  • Core keeps your last 7 backups, removes older ones, and counts backups toward your disk space.
  • Get one Let's Encrypt certificate for a domain and all its subdomains (a wildcard), for domains that use ASPnix DNS.
  • Each site's SSL page shows whether Let's Encrypt auto-renewal is on, with a Renew now button.
  • A short welcome tour the first time you sign in to Core.
  • Apps from the App Gallery that rely on .htaccess rewrite rules work on our Windows servers after install.

Improved , 8 changes Link to Improved

  • Expired Let's Encrypt certificates are kept and retried, and you hear from us when a renewal fails.
  • Adding a domain creates a DNS zone only when you ask, and Core tells you why if a zone wasn't created.
  • If you have more than one package, Core lists them all and remembers the last one you used.
  • Search in the header finds logins and takes you straight to the item.
  • The virtual server list shows each server's operating system, loads faster, and keeps the last known power state.
  • Reboot and Shut Down still work when a virtual server stops responding.
  • Removing an add-on names it in the confirmation.
  • Security improvements.

Fixed , 11 changes Link to Fixed

  • Adding a mailbox or forwarding on a domain alias can no longer delete the main mail domain.
  • DNS: apex records can be edited, AAAA records can be deleted, and a failed edit keeps the original record.
  • A domain that has mail can be deleted.
  • File Manager: unzip keeps subfolders, Copy and Move can pick any folder, permissions apply as typed, and a wrong ZIP password shows a clear message.
  • SSL: you can replace an existing certificate, and deleting a Let's Encrypt certificate no longer breaks HTTPS on the site.
  • App Gallery: PHP apps finish installing, Bludit accepts time zones, and admin passwords can include hyphens.
  • Virtual servers: new snapshots show right away and can be reverted, remote desktop sessions and the right user name show on the Access tab, and the list shows running or stopped.
  • Websites: the Resource Usage page opens, and new sites get your plan's memory limit.
  • Mail: Unlimited mailbox and mail domain sizes save correctly, and group and list recipient counts are right.
  • Databases with an empty or duplicate name show an error, and search finds names with underscores.
  • Sign Out works from every link, you can change your own password in Core, and dark mode follows Core's theme switch.

Plain error messages in the Panel
